Chester (Chet) Zajac began his study of controlling violence in 1966 with the study of the martial arts in Michigan, which lead to his study and research of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, relative to controlling violent human behavior. Chet has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and founded the Karate Institute curriculum within Colorado Mountain College (CMC). As a staff instructor for CMC he teaches accredited courses in advanced martial arts and instructor development. Chet worked as an EMT and initiated the EMS first responder program for the Aspen Police Dept. in 1980. In 2000, Chet retired from the Aspen, CO Police Department to pursue officer safety training and associated equipment. Chet is the founder of a multi-agency use of force program, founder of the Violent Behavior Control Curriculum and the author of the text: “Violent Behavior; Understanding and Control” Chet was the lead arrest control instructor at the Colorado Mountain College Police Academy for many years, served as a Subject Matter Expert on the State of Colorado Police Officers Standards and Training Board, served for 4 years on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Law Enforcement Officers Association, is a Certified Instructor/Trainer by the PPCT Management Systems Inc. , testifies in courts nationally as a Use of Force Expert, is a regular conference speaker and is and an accomplished martial artist. Lieutenant Colonel Retired
U.S. Army Special Forces
Lieutenant Colonel Gwynn retired with 26 years active
service with U.S. Army Special Forces. Colonel Gwynn
commanded small units using specific Tactical Planning
Systems for mission preparation and execution. As
an SF officer, a primary mission was the military
training and organization of other militaries and
paramilitary entities conducted by himself and his
subordinates. This mission was accomplished world
wide. Colonel Gwynn was the Training Officer for the
DEA’s Operation Snowcap, which operated in Latin
America during which time he reviewed and evaluated
training and equipment for the Operation, teaching
and supervising other trainers to ensure safe and
effective operations including introducing combatives
training beyond normal arrest control procedures.
Colonel Gwynn also led a DEA mission to train Royal
Bahamian Police Anti-Drug Unit, Nassau, Bahamas.
Colonel Gwynn began and directs DCSystems of Durango,
Colorado, which provides Security Services and Training
to individuals, corporations, law enforcement entities.
He participated as a principle trainer of Federal
Aviation Administration Air Marshals. He has provided
Tactical Planning System instruction for several Pressure
Point Control Tactics, Inc., annual Use of Force Conferences.
Colonel Gwynn is currently certified as Instructor
for various firearms disciplines, and unarmed combatives.

Rob Jones |

Director
of Special Operations
Rob
brings to the organization twenty-three years of experience
in Intelligence Collection and Analysis, Strategic
and Operations Planning, Threat Response, Mediation,
Training, and Executive Protection Operations.
Rob
served as a United States Army Ranger. His career
led him to Military Intelligence and Counter Intelligence
within the Army Special Forces, culminating with an
assignment to the DEA as an intelligence analyst.
Rob
has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice
from Chapman College and graduated from the Colorado
Department of Corrections Academy. A Correction Officer
and a Drill Instructor, Mr. Jones continued his education
by attending the Federal Bureau of Prisons Academy
and the Police Academy. Mr. Jones received his Masters
in Applied Communication and his Certificate in Alternative
Dispute Resolution from Denver University in June
2005.

Shawn Moody |

Shawn is one of the 2004 additions
to the team. As a police officer with the Greenwood
Village Police Department, he serves as Patrol Officer,
ERT member and Explorer advisor. Prior to becoming
a Police Officer in 1998, Shawn served the city
as a dispatcher from 1993-1998. Shawn received his
Criminal justice degree from Metropolitan State
College in 1993, and graduated from the P.O.S.T.
Academy in 1996.
Shawn
has proven himself as an educator, receiving certifications
as a Master Instructor for TASER, and Instructor
Certifications in Verbal Judo, OC,Sudden Custody
death Syndrome, PPCT, Law Enforcement Edged Weapons
Tactics, and POST Firearms.

Robert Ross |

A former Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps, Robert Ross began his career as a Police Officer in 1991 in the Denver Metropolitan area where he served as a S.W.A.T. Team member. Rob is currently a member of a major Metropolitan Police Department in the Baltimore / Washington D.C. area and is assigned to an inner city patrol division.
Rob's experience includes the following; S.W.A.T. Team operator, the advanced hand-to-hand combat and edged weapon tactics instructor for his former S.W.A.T. Team, Field Training Instructor and has a background in Gang Enforcement having served two separate Gang Enforcement Unit tours with previous Police Departments. Rob is also a Certified Arrest Control and Defensive Tactics Instructor, Baton Instructor, Tactical Edged Weapons Instructor, F.B.I. certified S.W.A.T. Chemical Agents and Less Lethal Instructor, Factory Trained Department Armorer for Colt, Para Ordnance, Smith & Wesson, H&K, Glock, Remington, Ruger, Sig Sauer, and Beretta, and has specialized in the area of officer safety and survival. Rob is a survivor of several lethal force confrontations, and is a Police Medal of Honor recipient.
Seeing a lack of lethal force options provided to Police Officers, Rob solicited the help of DDS Staff Instructors Luis Lopez and Kurt Scheuermann, and developed the Law Enforcement Edged Weapon Tactics course in 1995. In 1996, Dynamic Defense Systems was founded and the course has been offered nationwide to Police Officers and Military Personnel.

David Siddle, Ph.D. |

Violent Behavior control co-author
Dr. David Siddle is a Massachusetts licensed National Certified
Rehabilitation Counselor. He is also a professor at
the Institute for Social and Rehabilitation Services,
Assumption College, Worcester, MA teaching courses
in Rehabilitation Services, Drug and Alcohol Abuse,
Interviewing, Casework and Peace Studies. Dr. Siddle
travels nationally lecturing on violence as they apply
to public health issues. Dr. Siddle for the past eight
years has conducted violent behavior workshops for
health and human service workers throughout the United
States. While on sabbatical from Assumption College
he studied violent behavior and drug abuse at Harvard
Medical School - The Zinberg Center for the Study
of Addiction. With a colleague he conducted the only
two known statewide surveys of Emergency Medical Technicians’
experience with assaultive patients. Survey findings
and recommendations were published in a national emergency
medical journal. Dr. Siddle's research interest is
in understanding the nature and extent of violence
within the health, education and human service fields.

John Tucker |

John brings 16 years of experience
to the CZ Inc. team. As a Deputy Sheriff assigned
to the Traffic Safety Division for Weld County Colorado,
John is the Lead Arrest Control Instructor for the
Weld County Law Enforcement Training Academy as well
as a certified Instructor in RADAR/LADDER and DUI
SFST/HGN.
John
is a certified PPCT Instructor Trainer, teaching the
DTI and GAGE programs, as well as a certified instructor
in ASP and Scientific Combatives Group Aerosol Subject
Restraint.
Johns Martial arts history includes ranking in both
Tae Kwon Do and Kempo. |
James Wood |

EMS
trainer and Paramedic, James Wood is the EMS training
director of CZ Inc. James has multiple degrees in
Applied Science in Criminal Justice and EMS and is
a Nationally Registered Paramedic licensed in many
states. James is an Instructor Trainer certified by
the Training Center for Medic First Aid International,
the Training Center for American Safety and Health
Institute (ASHI) and is an Emergency First Response
Instructor teaching:
